Welcome to the Impact Report!

Reflecting on 2019 and my 30 years as a minority-woman business owner, I am particularly inspired by the milestones women achieved last year. We witnessed the first-ever, all-female team spacewalk; the first woman Speaker of the House preside over this country’s third presidential impeachment; the first woman to lead an Army infantry division; and the first woman to become chief economist for the International Monetary Fund. Isn’t it just awesome!

Now, shake off the 1900s and start 2020 with youthful enthusiasm, measured optimism and emboldened confidence. Laugh like a child, protect like a mother, and plan like a boss! I intend to seize opportunities to build an infinite mindset, while treating our clients, employees, vendors, partners and rivals with kindness.

This year at Impact, we will focus on enhancing service offerings, strengthening client relationships and inspiring smiles, trust, and confidence while providing exceptional customer service and completing projects on time and on budget.

See you in the new decade!

– Cheryl McCants, president & CEO

Impact Updates

Expanding Our Clientele

Impact proudly welcomes our new client, Rutgers Business School, Center for Supply Chain Management (RBS-CSCM). RBS-CSCM is a vital resource that prepares companies to meet present and emerging needs of supply chain management, and subsequently, advance their business growth and development opportunities. RBS-CSCM contracted Impact to devise a communication strategy and visual identity that will heighten the Center's visibility, and strengthen its appeal to executives, corporate partners, and professors.

Professional home stager, Jacquie Wilson, has hired Impact to better communicate her team’s creative, residential home-staging expertise. Jacquie, founder and president of Professional Home Staging NJ, reminds property investors that creative and professional home staging, when done right, helps you sell your homes quickly and for as much as possible. In fact, 94% of homes that are staged sell in one month or less, while spending 80% less time on the market!

Developing the Next Generation of Talent

Impact needs bright, ambitious, curious, and creative interns to be optimally #impactful. In Fall 2019, MBA student Shwetha Krishna and business undergrad Janiya Wade joined Team Impact for three months of substantive roll-up-your-sleeves, hands-on work performed under high-pressured deadlines. Thrown into the deep end, they stretched beyond their comfort zones and gained new insights about the work world and their capabilities. Thank you, Shwetha and Janiya, for making tangible, resume-worthy contributions to Impact’s success. Now, we welcome back summer intern Morgan Ulrich for our winter program.

Watch Us Work

In October, Justine attended the Newark Regional Business Partnership’s (NRBP) Regional Economic Outlook Breakfast at the Best Western Robert Treat Hotel - Crystal Ballroom in Newark. Notable experts in healthcare, economics, business development, and sales had a vigorous discourse about how the Newark Region and New Jersey can not only weather but thrive during the next economic downturn, which is predicted to arrive in the next year or so.

Team Impact attended LEVEL UP by Facebook in November at Facebook NYC. It was a full-day workshop that gave us a better understanding of how to sell compelling stories. We gained new insights into using Facebook’s advertising tools and acquired best practices for optimizing any online ad platform. We also received 1:1 coaching throughout the day and expanded our network of local business leaders and entrepreneurs.

Also, in November, Impact CEO, Cheryl McCants, was invited to speak at the 2nd Global Personal & Executive Assistant Summit in Toronto, Canada. She led a thought-provoking and imaginative workshop on Artificial Intelligence and its Effects on Executive Assistants and the C-Suite. Cheryl’s key message was that AI would allow EAs to be more valuable, not less. AI will perform mundane tasks, while EAs can manage more significant projects requiring critical thinking and problem-solving.

Cheryl and Justine attended NRBP’s Eye Opener: How Technology is Changing Health Care. Top clinicians and technology experts talked about how technology in medicine has opened new avenues to change the nature of healthcare to a value-based system and one where data analytics allow for individualized treatment, such as immunotherapy in cancer care.

Impact Social Ambassadors

A special thank you goes out to our Social Media Ambassadors, Leslie Summiel and Courtney McCants. They have done a tremendous job of telling the Impact story.

On the Horizon

In 2020, Cheryl will reprise her in-demand RNSBDC Integrated Digital Marketing Series. Through the series, Cheryl teaches small businesses how to create an integrated marketing campaign or program across multiple platforms. These campaigns would ensure that the enterprises target their ideal customers through multiple touchpoints, enabling them to acquire, engage, and retain customers, eventually turning them into loyal advocates.

Impact in the News

Cheryl is thrilled to become a new member of the NY & NJ Minority Supplier Diversity Council’s Minority Business Enterprise Input Committee (MBEIC). The committee is a group of certified minority business enterprise representatives, who provide counsel and recommendations to ensure that the programs and projects implemented by The Council are relevant and supportive of minority business development. The MBEIC is structured to have officers that provide an organized and formal mechanism through which business development and growth recommendations can be shared with all certified MBEs.
